Good afternoon fourth grade families!
It's the moment you've all been waiting for... information on homework, the homework policies, ClassDojo and more! Homework will be posted daily on our class website: http://highline4thgrade.weebly.com/ If there is no homework that will be noted as well. In addition, the majority of the emails that are sent out, will be posted on the website to make them easier to find and access. Any flyers that are passed out to students or attached to an email will also be available on the website. Feel free to peruse the site but please note that it is still in it's building stages. It will be fully functioning by, if not before, Back to School Night. Our homework policy has changed a little since last year. This year homework is still expected to be turned in the day after it is assigned. However, if an emergency should arise (health, schedule change, after school practice/game), students just need to have their homework turned in as soon as possible. Any homework that is not completed on time, must have a note (or email) attached to it from a parent or guardian, explaining the situation. They will have until Friday of the week the homework is due to turn it in. If it is not turned in by Friday, they will be asked to stay in during lunch and complete it. As always, if a student is absent, they have two days to turn the homework in, per Highline's homework policy. Today, a flyer went home with your student about ClassDojo. We will be using "dojo" as a classroom management tool. The flyer includes all the instructions for creating your own account that allows you to see how your child is doing throughout the day. Please set up your account and take a few minutes to look at the site. We will be covering it more in depth on Back to School night. Because the flyers are printed with individual access codes, please let me know if you need an additional copy and I'll be happy to email you the information or send an additional hard copy home with your student. Almost finished... This evening, I will be putting together a "Sign Up Genius" for classroom birthdays. Celebrations will be held on the last day of each month for all students with birthdays that month. Due to a limited amount of time in the afternoons, any supplies or treats need to brought the day before the celebration, or the morning of. More information about specific days and times will be on the sign up. When the sign up is complete, you will receive an email asking you to join. Last but certainly not least, we are in search of more room parent volunteers! If you think you have a few minutes to spare for projects, birthdays, and varying events, please let us know! It takes a village to run a classroom and both 4th grade classes would greatly appreciate any extra hands this year. Whew! I apologize for such a lengthy email but we already have a lot going on! Question or concerns? Please let me know! Best wishes, Emily Gravley
